Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of PermitMobile ("we," "us," or "our"), including permitmobile.com and related building permit tracking services for residential remodelers and contractors.

By creating an account, subscribing, or using PermitMobile, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

PermitMobile provides a mobile-first software platform for tracking municipal building permit status. The service allows contractors to add permit numbers and project details, monitor permit approval progress, and receive status updates from participating municipal portals.

We may update, improve, or modify features at any time. We do not guarantee that every municipality or permit portal is supported, or that permit data will always be available or current.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use PermitMobile. The service is intended for business use by contractors, remodelers, and construction professionals in the United States.

Accounts and security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and review active sessions from your account settings.

You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You may not share your account or use PermitMobile on behalf of others without authorization.

Subscription and billing

PermitMobile offers a free account tier and PermitMobile Premium, a recurring subscription currently priced at $40 per month unless otherwise stated on our website. Free accounts do not require payment information. Payments for Premium are processed by Stripe.

  • Free accounts can track one permit at a time, with a limit of one permit per calendar month. No billing information is required.
  • Premium subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
  • You authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis for Premium.
  • You may cancel Premium at any time; cancellation stops future charges but does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period unless required by law.
  • We may change pricing with reasonable notice; continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.
  • Failure to pay for Premium may result in suspension or termination of unlimited permit tracking features.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use PermitMobile for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable building, zoning, or municipal regulations.
  • Submit false permit numbers, addresses, or project information.
  • Attempt to access, scrape, or disrupt municipal systems beyond our authorized permit monitoring workflows.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the service without written permission.
  • Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of PermitMobile or other users' accounts.
  • Use automated means to abuse the service or circumvent subscription limits.

Permit data disclaimer

PermitMobile retrieves building permit status from third-party municipal portals and public sources. We do not issue permits, approve projects, or represent any government agency.

Permit status shown in your dashboard is provided for informational purposes only. You are solely responsible for verifying permit status, approvals, and compliance with local building departments before starting or continuing work.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of permit data. Delays, portal outages, or municipal system changes may affect updates.

Intellectual property

PermitMobile, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your internal business purposes during an active subscription.

You retain ownership of permit and project data you submit. You grant us a license to use that data to operate, improve, and provide the permit tracking service.

Third-party services

PermitMobile relies on third-party providers including Firebase (authentication and data storage), Stripe (payments), and municipal permit portals. Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms and policies.

Disclaimer of warranties

PermitMobile is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that permit status information will meet your project deadlines or regulatory requirements.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PermitMobile and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, project delays, or regulatory penalties arising from your use of the service or reliance on permit status information.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the service will not exceed the amount you paid to PermitMobile in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PermitMobile from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your permit or project data, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

Termination

You may stop using PermitMobile and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or if we discontinue the service.

Upon termination, your right to access the dashboard ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
